Solar thermal is a key technology in achieving European targets in the field of renewable energy and climate protection. It has been seeing a strong market growth in many European countries. According to the European Solar Thermal Technology Platform, solar thermal could cover - in combination with energy efficiency measures - up to 50 % of the total heat demand in Europe by 2030.

The Solar Thermal Conference Wels will present innovative technologies and solutions, such as solar cooling, solar process heat or innovative approaches to thermal storage. It will also discuss market trends in Europe and beyond as well as innovative financing solutions and policies and programmes promoting solar thermal.

The location of the conference is very well chosen: with more than 700 m2 per 1000 inhabitants, Upper Austria is a leading solar region worldwide and with 1,000,000 m2 of installed solar collectors clearly the number one in Austria.
