The conference "WSED next!" offered a platform both for presenting the work of young researchers and professionals as well as for interaction with experts and decision makers from industry and institutions. It was held in the framework of the World Sustainable Energy Days 2012 (WSED12) conference.
Senior students, young researchers and young professionals were invited to submit contributions using the online submission form. Linked to the main topics of the WSED12, WSED next! focused on the two topics: (1) biomass as well as (2) energy efficiency in buildings.
A scientific committee selected papers for oral or poster presentation.
The organiser of the WSED, the O.Ö. Energiesparverband, covered the costs for accommodation, meals, participation and local transport for up to 60 selected participants for 3 conference days (arrival: 28 February, departure: 2 March).
The "WSED Next Award" was presented to the "best contribution". Mahdi Vaezi, Mariana Economidou and Jan Rosenow shared the prize money of 500 Euro as they received the same nomber of votes.
A special issue of the international scientific journal "Biomass & Bioenergy" (Elsevier) with selected scientific papers presented at the WSED next! conference will be published!
