CALL FOR PAPERS AND SPEAKERS

Deadline: 12 October 2021

We look forward to receiving your contributions!

Young researchers (born after 1986) are invited to submit contributions.
Deadline: 12 October 2021.

A high-level scientific committee selects papers for oral or poster presentation. The organiser of the WSED, the OÖ Energiesparverband, covers the costs of accommodation, meals, participation and local transport (3 conference days) for up to 60 selected participants. Submissions are invited from any scientific field (e.g. technology, engineering, economics, social sciences, architecture, law, arts) and must be in English only. The 2 best contributions are honoured with the awards "Best Young Energy Efficiency Researcher" and "Best Young Biomass Researcher" and receive 1,000 Euro each as prize money. The Young Energy Researchers Conference builds upon ten very successful events (held from 2012 to 2021), each of them attracting contributors from more than 25 countries.

What are the "WSED"?

The World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED) are an annual conference held at the end of February/beginning of March in Wels/Austria. With more than 650 participants from over 50 countries each year, it is a leading conference on the energy transition and climate neutrality.

Who is the target group of Young Energy Researchers Conference? Who is considered as "young" for this conference?

The target groups for presenters at this conference are:

  • young researchers
  • students working on advanced degrees (e.g. master's degrees, PhDs, etc.)
  • young professionals

Papers can be submitted by persons born after 1986.

In addition to individuals, groups from the same or different universities or research organisations are invited to submit joint papers. The organiser will support the participation of max. 3 young researchers per selected paper. Papers submitted by groups should mainly be based on work carried out by young researchers.

Which kind of papers can be submitted? What format should the papers have? How is the submission process organised?

Papers should focus on the subjects of:

  • biomass or
  • energy efficiency

Submissions are welcome from all scientific fields (e.g. technology, engineering, economics, social sciences, architecture, law, arts) and must be in English only.

Contributions must be submitted using the online submission form. It is a "one stage" submission process. The evaluation of the papers is based on the information received by the deadline of the Call for Papers. The organiser recommends that the submission includes a papers of at least a few pages or a ppt (not only a short abstract in the submission form).

Deadline for submissions is 12 October 2021.

The submitted papers will be selected by a scientific committee. Selected participants will be notified by the conference organisers (in November/December 2021) and more information on practical details will be provided then.

For those not selected, student fees for participation are available.

How much will it cost? How many papers will be selected?

The organiser of the WSED, the OÖ Energiesparverband, covers the costs of accommodation, meals, participation and local transport (3 conference days) for up to 60 selected participants. The participants must cover their travel costs.

What is included for the participants of selected papers?

  • oral or poster presentation of the paper
  • participation in all events of the World Sustainable Energy, including the evening events (with dinners) and conference lunches
  • free entry to the "Energiesparmesse" tradeshow, one of the largest tradeshows on energy efficiency and renewable energy in Europe (100,000 visitors and 900 exhibitors every year)
  • interaction with researchers and industry experts from all over the world

What is the "Best Young Energy Researcher Award" and how does it work?

The 2 best contributions are honoured with the awards "Best Young Energy Efficiency Researcher" and "Best Young Biomass Researcher". The researchers receive 1,000 Euro each as prize money. The award committee chooses the winners among the papers selected for oral presentation (there is no need for a separate submission for the award). The winners will be notified around one month before the conference.

Where and when does the conference take place and how to get there?
